First day in NYC!!

We got to go to NYC for Drew's spring break! It was the last week of his 10 week rotation in Syracuse so I loaded up the kids and headed to Syracuse for Friday night. Daddy had pizza waiting for the kids and we had a slumber party in daddy's apartment. The kids love to stay at the apartment in Syracuse!

The next morning we loaded the car back up and headed for New York City!! We laughed and sang the whole 4 hours there! Drew and I were excited to drive through Scranton, PA (the office), and even more excited to see the big city driving in! We always try to hold our breath during tunnels- however- the Lincoln tunnel was SOOO LONG! The kids thought it was was dark and cool!

Driving in NYC was something else. We promised ourselves we would stay calm and have no quarrels. We made it safe and sound to the hotel (which could not have been in the more perfect place, and on the same corner as Carnigie hall!)

We settled into the hotel then started out. We were able to walk about 3 blocks and be in Times Square, so big and so busy with a lot to see!! We saw the Empire State Building- So neat! We walked around Penn Station- had some dinner, saw MadisonSquare Garden, decided to track down a waffle truck featured on the food network and recommend by a friend here. It was amazing!! Everything it was cracked out to be! While Drew was ordering- I got serenaded by a homeless guy. Nice.

We promised the kids we'd ride the "train" aka subway. It took us a few tries to get the hang of it- but was totally worth learning how. Totally gross and dirty with the homeless living down there and subway performers, but worth the experience. We still walked around 8 miles a day with the subway- could you imagine without? Jada was such a trooper and never complained as she walked the entire time!

There was no pool in the hotel (common in NYC) so we headed back at bedtime at let the kids splash and play in the tub! They are super easy to please! :)
